I must reiterate that I have actually been following the plan for the past 5 days other than a handful of sprouted garbanzo beans. I won't officially start unil Feb. 9th.
Yesterday was an interesting day for me. I woke up with a scratchy throat and wondered if it was my change in diet. I stepped on the scale and was shocked that I had lost 5 lbs. I hadn't slept well, nor had I the previous night. I called my friend who turned me on to the Paleo way and talked to her about my results so far and asked her if it was normal to lose 5 lbs in 4 days and to not sleep well. She said that yes, some people lose weight very rapidly but it is mostly water weight. I have been drinking even more water than I normally do, which is a LOT! As for my sleeping problems, she suggested I might be going to bed hungry and I admitted I was.
Last night before going to bed I ate about 1/2 a cup of the leftover Thai chicken & veggies stir fry and that seemed to help me sleep better last night. I woke up VERY I got up and weighed myself and now I am down 6 lbs!!!! I realize some of it is water weight but I am encouraged by the results.
Now comes my weekend of cheating before my official start date and I am concerned that I will gain back everything I lost. I am tempted not to drink any wine at the wine event tomorrow and I am toying with not going to the sportsbar and watching the Super Bowl with friends. I don't want to slide backwards and undo what I just worked all week to accomplish. Everything in moderation...
